Busunga School, Uganda ~ Our Link school

Busunga School is a church school in the parish of St. Peter's situated in the vast Nyakatonzi region of Uganda.  This is close to the Congo border and the Equator.  It's people are mostly Nomadic cattle herders. The area is fairly remote , with few proper roads, no electricity or running water.
Under the guidance and support of Mr amd Mrs Jenkin a link was formed between our two schools in 2012.   Chris and Mary took with them a scrapbook of pictures, photographs and information which was received with great excitement by the children and grown ups at Busunga School.
Just before their visit some water pumps had been installed around the area which as you can imagine was fantastic for the people living there.
Busunga School has a large rain water collection tank which during the rainy season collects water for drinking, washing ect.  Orton School helped to pay for this tank through generous donations from families and friends, during collections at school performances and charity events. This tank is so important to the community as it allows children to attend lessons rather than have to travel great distances to collect water from a pump, therefore missing lessons.
Children from both schools thank you for your support and generousity in enabling this to happen.
This is just a little piece of information about the links between our schools, we hope to add more soon.
